Did You Know?
The Mingo Oak was the oldest and largest living white oak tree in the world until its death in 1938. The tree stood in north-eastern Mingo County near Trace Mountain (along present-day US-119). The tree was over 200' tall and had a circumference of 30' at its base. The tree was often referred to as "the mighty monarch of the mountains".
